American Airlines introduced the DC-7 in November 1953 during a nonstop flight from New York to Los Angeles. It was American Airlines first coast to coast, nonstop service. The DC-7 was the fastest airplane at the time, cruising at 360 miles an hour. The flight took roughly eight hours.
