Las Vegas Horseshoe Club matchbook

A bit of luck and a whole lot of promotion made the Binion family and Joe Brown very rich in Las Vegas.
It started in 1951.
That’s when Benny Binion opened a gambling hall and called it the Horseshoe.

Several years later, with money rolling in and Binion in prision for tax evasion, casino ‘caretaker’ Joe Brown installed a display case containing one million dollars.
Tourists and gamblers flocked to get their picture taken in front it.

The million dollar display was eventually removed by Benny Binion’s daughter Becky Behnen.
I guess she didn’t think it would bring her luck, money, or gawkers.
The original Hoseshoe closed in 2004.

However, after a business buyout the display back!
It’s now at the Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel in downtown Las Vegas.
